Descripción
Sumario:This paper aims to identify challenges with academic writing in graduate studies context based on the report and use of metaphorical expressions by young researchers about the process of writing a master's dissertation and doctoral thesis. It proposes reflections on topics related to the academic text writing, taking the  student’s perspective as a guideline from practice and experience. This work contributes with an overview that aims to guide the teaching-learning practices of academic writing for professors and mentors. To do so, the metalinguistic analysis, anchored in the theoretical-philosophical perspective of Bakhtin and the Circle (BAKHTIN, 2002; 2011; VOLÓCHINOV, 2017; 2019), is used in the study of concrete utterances. The socio-historical factor as constitutive of academic literate practices (LEA; STREET, 1998) also constitutes the analytical core. The selected reports, which are part of the qualitatively analyzed data in a doctoral thesis (BRAMBILA, 2021), are recognized as concrete statements composed of ideological signs that reflect and refract reality.
