Sumario:Objective: Make an evaluation, on patients with an advanced and grave cases of obesity submitted to the bariatric surgery, the effects of weight’s reduction, abdominal circumferences’s reduction and maintenance of the force, associated to the supplementation based on proteins. Methods: A longitudinal study was realized, in a clinic located in the South region of the State of São Paulo, with 48 patients, from both genders, given that 17 patients had returned until the third month after surgery. The variations of weight and abdominal circumferences, force, use of supplementation of practical protein, and of physical exercise were analyzed, in the pre and post operatory. To statistics analysis were used average, standard deviation line, and percentage numbers.Results: The patients had presented significant reduction of weight, abdominal circumferences’ and force in the post operatory period. The group’s averages with or without protein supplementation had been 101,66 kg, 96,22 kg, 110,37 cm, 105,88 cm and 25, 28,77 respectively. Conclusion: The bariatric surgery is an efficient method for the loss and maintenance of the corporal weight.
