Descripción
Sumario:This work intends to reflect on the concept of retranslation in the field of Translation Studies and its implications for the critical reception of an author and work in another country. According to Kahn and Seth (2010), the retranslation is, above all, an update of a text, whose main objective is to expose the reader of the target culture to a new interpretation of the work in question, so that it naturally presents itself as a reactive text. In this sense, more than translation, retranslation is closer to literary criticism, as it intends to redo a work judged to be unsatisfactory, or transitory, starting from a reparatory critical reading, in a way. Thus, to explore this concept, the works of critics such as Antoine Berman, Robert Kahn, Yves Gambier, among others, will be used, as well as excerpts taken from Grande Sertão: Veredas, by João Guimarães Rosa, as well as their French translations, in order to illustrate the considerations set out here.
