| Sumario: | The current article approaches the transforming role the librarians may play in society as a cultural agent. It discusses the differences between cultural action, cultural animation and cultural fabrication, with emphasis on the potential of the cultural action. In order to demonstrate how the cultural agent librarian’s performance may be developedthese professionals’ experience accounts, using such works presented on the Brazilian Congress in Library Sciences, Documentation and Information Science in 2013 as source of informations. This study is characterized as a bibliographical research, from which is found that the practice of the cultural action among the librarians, despite its being fundamental to society, is rarely discussed and applied, given its potential as an instrument for social transformation. |
