Resumo:The following research aimed to demonstrate the athlete profession importance and the lack of juridical endorsement that this one has in society. Because of that, there was literature revision referring to this problematic issue, approaching initially the law evolution, then the athlete and its particularities, equality principles, then, finally, the professional athlete. Interviews were used as research technique with 21 athletes of various sports, aiming to check if they hold any employment contracts, and also whether they believe they have all the employment rights or not.
