LIGHT STEEL FRAMING CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM: PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF THE RE- CONSTITUTED WOODEN BOARDS

Taking into account the transversal actions of the Light Steel Framing (LSF) constructive system, the structural performance depends on the shearing behavior of Wall sheathing, depending on the elasticity and transversal deformation modules, among other factors. Thus, the objective of this work was...

Description
Summary:Taking into account the transversal actions of the Light Steel Framing (LSF) constructive system, the structural performance depends on the shearing behavior of Wall sheathing, depending on the elasticity and transversal deformation modules, among other factors. Thus, the objective of this work was to determine, from the structural plywood closing plates, the modulus of elasticity in the longitudinal and transverse directions, through three-point bending flexural static test, according the requirements of NBR 9533 (ABNT, 2012), and compare them with similar research results that used Oriented Strand Board (OSB) panels in bracing the LSF system. After analyzing the results of the modulus of elasticity found in those studies in which OSB plates were used, and compared with the results of the currently research, it was concluded that it is possible to use the structural plywood in the LSF construction system, highlighting even a superior performance.
