Sumario:Goats behavior in pastures is not so known but it is very important for goats performance. Structural characteristics of Panicum maximum Jacq. cv. Aruana and Hemarthria altissima cv. Flórida pastures and preference of goats in grazing were evaluated. The experiment was performed in Campo Largo – PR, at March, 2004. Two grasses were studied Aruana (A) and Hemartria (H) at two canopy heights Lower (1) and Higher (2), placed in randomized blocks in factorial arrangement and three replications. Nine goats were distributed in three experimental blocks of 672m2. Height, forage dry matter and leaf, stem and dead material dry matter from pastures were taken. Grazing preference, bite rate and bite depth from animals were studied. Taller patches and higher tillers were significantly more grazed (p
