Descripción
Sumario:This paper focuses on the biography and analysis of Maria Nazaré Saraiva Rabelo’s labor importance, a rural educator from the district of Juazeiro de Baixo, in Morada Nova, Ceará, who lived between 1912 and 1998 and dedicated herself to the education of children and young people in her surroundings for thirty-nine years. We used the resources of Oral History and interviewed ten subjects, all former students of hers. Based on researchers such as Araújo (2002), Bueno et al. (2006), Calazans (1993) and Torres and Simões (2018), we analyzed her profile and concluded that although historiography does not sufficiently embrace the biographies of rural educators of the last century, the most accurate study of some of them is necessary, in order that we know who the great anonymous lay educators were, those who brought knowledge to the most inhospitable corners of the country at a time likewise.
