description Starting from the assumption of Bakhtin's studies (2014) as founding contributions to the sciences of language and semiotics, we adopt his concept of chronotope as the articulator of an analysis of the narrative of the first season of the north-american series Once upon a time, which has its basis structurated in an intertextual work of references to other texts, especially the classic fairy tales. At the end of the discussion, we find that the chronotope is central to the construction of meanings in the cultural text in question, mainly because the narrative unfolds in the transit between a fantastic chronotope and a chronotope of the “concrete world” and, therefore, the meaning inevitably changes. Advancing in our reflection, we have reached that all the complexity of this narrative, with its intricate temporal articulations and its nonlinear construction, responds to a contemporaneous temporal deconstruction; dialoguing with considerations already grounded by Harvey (2014) on the postmodern condition. In this, the series is configured as a great mediation between the receiving subject and the objective reality. In short, this history, its speeches, representations and structure communicate about the (current) time in which they occur. It is the culture (north american?) inscribed in the text (LOTMAN; USPENSKIJ; IVÁNOV, 1981).

Ao fim da discussão, depreendemos que o cronotopo é elemento central à construção de sentidos no texto cultural em questão sobretudo pelo fato de a narrativa se desenrolar no trânsito entre um cronotopo fantástico e um cronotopo do “mundo concreto” e, desse modo, a significação inevitavelmente se modifica. Avançando em nossa reflexão, alcançamos que toda a complexidade dessa narrativa, com suas intricadas articulações temporais e sua construção não linear, responde a uma desconstrução temporal contemporânea; dialogando com considerações já alicerçadas por Harvey (2014) sobre a condição pós-moderna.
