Descripción
Sumario:This study aims to analyse the experience of resistance of communities affected by a mining mega-enterprise, the Minas-Rio Project, in the municipalities of Conceição do Mato Dentro and Alvorada de Minas, in Minas Gerais, as the materialisation of a contradiction existing within the capitalist mode of production, focusing on the role of the State vis-à-vis private property. The analysis is developed from Marxist concepts replicated by David Harvey in the book 17 Contradictions and the End of Capitalism, released in 2016. It is based on the assumption that contradictions can constitute fruitful sources for overcoming this economic model of accumulation, which allows us to say that the processes of resistance resulting from the expansion of capital in the places mentioned open space for utopian thinking as a means to achieve a decent life for all beings, based on real equality.
