| Sumario: | The aim of this article is to make a comparison between the Franz Kafka's short story Josefine, die Sängerin oder Das Volk der Mäuse and its Brazilian version Josefina, a Cantora, performed by Torrieri Guimarães. At the outset, we start with a research accomplished previously (ROMÃO, 2014), in which the anthropo-zoomorphic relations found in four short stories by Franz Kafka were analyzed. In this article, by using the methodology of the Functionalist Approach to Translation (NORD, 1988, 2016), we attempt to show the extent to which the choices of the Brazilian translator were able to maintain the effect produced by the verb pfeifen and other related words (Gepfeife, gepfiffen, das Pfeifen) present in the Jewish-Czech writer's original text. |
