Sumario:The day March 28 1895, is published on the front page of the newspaper Folha de Sergipe an eulogy dedicated to Capitoline Hill Henry da Costa, a printer and owner of the same leaf. It is from this tribute that will be rebuilt his career, from his death to life, in order to understand how the living reflects in the aspects surrounding the die and the worship the memory of the dead in Aracaju. The search object corresponds to the practices and representations in the face of death in Aracaju, from 1886 to 1895. The timeframe is conditioned to the sources used for the analysis that match editions of Folha de Sergipe within the mentioned period, while dialogue with other sources, PhD, of the period in question, among others. This work is from the perspective of Cultural history, with analysis focused on the representations and practices in the field of history of death. The methodology used is based on the interpretation of traces which reveal themselves through the documentation for this method is used by indicting Carlos Ginzburg. For the narrative description, and the understanding of the subtendidos understood and documental source, concomitant to interpretation of the feelings transmitted through the expressions and symbols present in the necrology, is used the concept of experience proposed by Ankersmit, allowing the author's experience with its object through the text.
