The purpose of this article is to discuss the under-representation of black men/black women in the 2018 elections for the 56th legislature in the Chamber of Deputies. In order to carry out the article, a literature review on racism and political representation and under-representation was used, as well as the mobilization of secondary data on race/color in Brazil and elements of the deputies' profile. For this purpose, statistics on society and the electorate are presented to enable the comparison between that and the composition of an important place of power in institutional politics. Underrepresentation is linked to several factors, such as social class, gender and education, which are fundamental points for the construction of this discussion about the number of elected candidates.
