| Sumario: | In this work there are two main strands of discussion on the use of instruments ruler and compass geometric constructions: the first, historical and mathematical character and another, about their educational application. On the first point, we will try to analyze the character, not only historical, but also practical, the use of instruments ruler and compass in the process of significant discoveries in mathematics. We'll also discuss the essential role of these two instruments in this development, bringing so important reflections of the practice of using the same for math today. We will review mathematics Greek culture, its applications and theories, and how that mathematics was developed to reach out to our times, emphasizing that case, the facts more directly related to the practice of construction Euclidean method. Then, we will try to discuss the importance of using ruler and compass in the educational, emphasizing not only its applicability as pedagogical support and its relation to the geometry, but also discovering new possibilities for its use in algebraic problems, such as solving equations and arithmetic in general, thereby giving new meaning to the use of these resources. |
