| Resumo: | The tobacco has been present in the Recôncavo since the seventeenth century, when begun its exploitation as a commodity. The tobacco manufactures deployment during the nineteenth century was of great importance in the socio-economic development of the region. From the 1930s was a decline period and closure of most manufactures, resulting in an abandonment, destruction and modification of old factories and warehouses. What could improve the socio-economic and cultural development of a region is being lost. The tobacco manufactures exemplary award as cultural heritage would draw attention to the policies development for its preservation. To understand whether they can be considered as such we need to understand the meaning of what is cultural heritage and how is its training and the choice of goods that will be part of this select group. Still, it wouldn’t be possible to reach a conclusion due to lack of research on the subject. |
