| Summary: | Nowadays, the application of digital technologies by contemporarysociety and in organizations has become so frequent and expanded that it hasbeen characterized as a change process called digital transformation. The aim ofthis paper is to discuss the concepts and processes of digital transformation to beused as strategies in organizations, focusing on the use and application ofontologies in this context and on the current challenges of its application. In thisresearch, ontologies are treated as instruments for knowledge representation andorganization in different domains, in the context of Information Science. It wasused an exploratory research methodology with a qualitative approach, throughwhich was carried out the study of the scientific literature, the selection of theart state and the subjective analysis. The results indicated that ontologies allowto represent information in the transition process between the project and theproduct development, acting as the solution of semantic interoperabilityproblems. Ontologies are also useful in the process of constructing a company'sservices cloud, by representing the basic concepts, terminology and semantics ofa service-oriented architecture. Finally, it was concluded that ontologies areuseful in the companies’ processes of digital transformation and productdevelopment, because they make the acquired knowledge of a certain domainexplicit, allowing a clearer understanding of the integrated architecturalconcepts and providing additional mechanisms for knowledge inference. |
