| Sumario: | Based on the theoretical-methodological assumptions of Variationist Sociolinguistics (LABOV, 2008; WEINREICH; LABOV; HERZOG, 2006), we objective analyze the performance of linguistic and extralinguistic factors and their performance on the variation of existential verbs to exist and to have. The data come from the speech of 50 informants from the corpus of the Português Oral Culto de Fortaleza - PORCUFORT project. Through statistical analysis, we reached a total of 2,199 data, 392 (17.8%) occurrences to exist and 1,807 (82.2%) occurrences of to have. The groups of factors relevant to the verb to exist were, in this order of importance: position of the SN; record type; semantic trait of SN; agreement between the verb and the SN; time and verbal mode; and age group. |
