Resumo:In this article, Zenaide Carneiro analyzes excerpts from three columns about language published in newspapers of Bahia in the decade of 1920. The axis is the column of Galdino Moreira (Galmar) of whom the author shoes his positioning in a debate current at his time: that between purists and defenders of the specificity of Portuguese in Brazil. The analysis shows how Galmor takes position against purism and favoráble to specificity of brazilian portuguese in traces such as : his aceptation of expressions considered to be "foreignism": his enunciation as a layman, stating his speech as an "opnion" and thus putting himself as one of the people : the corroboration of te speech of the people through the speech of literates: the designations of Brazilian Portuguese - assumed bh Galmor as " ours" - contra-posed to European Portuguese.
