Blood smear was used as diagnosis method for the detection of H. canis gamonts in the neutrophils. Anaemia, leucocytosis, monocytosis and lymphopenia were observed in the haematological exams. Imidocarb dipropionate associated with tetracyclines and sulfamethoxasole-trimethoprim were used in therapy.
