Resumo:Delving into the subject of intangible assets, this paper brings to the analytical fore of regional studies, the concept of Relational Capital. It further shows why this particular asset is as important to growth and development of a given region, as the conventional productive resources brought forward in the traditional literature. The theoretical construct presented is supported by extensive empirical evidence, springing from field research. The adopted methodology led to the construction of a set of indicators of relational nature. These, in turn, enabled the checks and measurements of certain dimensions relevant to the facts of interest, as such, opening up new trends in comparative studies at both the inter and the intra-regional levels.
