Resumo:Objective: To determine the contributions of the systematic practice of capoeira in psychomotor development of chidren whit 6 and 7 years of age. Method: Cross-sectional study with 20 (twenty) male volunteers, ages 6 to 7 years (ten practitioners of capoeira to at least six months (group capoeira) and the other ten non-practicing capoeira (control group)). To measure the level of body coordination, KTK test was used (Test Körperkoordination Für Kinder). Results: The control group had good level of coordination. The group capoeira, reached the high level, being superior in all criteria in thecontrol group, differences confirmed with Student's t test (p <0.05). Conclusion: The hypothesis was confirmed, indicating that the systematic practice of capoeira improves the coordinating body of its practitioners.
