Sumario:Cardiovascular diseases, including acute myocardial infarction, represent na important public health problem, with high rates of incidence and mortality. The clinical definition denotes the presence of acute myocardial Injury detected by abnormal cardiac biomarkers in the setting of acute myocardial ischemic evidence. Objective: to review early laboratory biomarkers of myocardial necrosis, focusing on inflammation and ischemia. Method: scientific articles were used focusing on the relationship of laboratory biomarkers and their applicability in necrosis and infarction. Results: the research of the diferent types of biomarkers showed that there is still no perfect marker for the laboratory diagnosis of the disease, due to the latency between the onset of the clinical event and the laboratory alteration. Conclusion: the ideal biomarker would be the one that briefly changes its values and specifies the myocardium as the source of the changes.
