Sumario:This is an interview with Tiago Mata Machado, an artist and filmmaker from Minas Gerais. It emerged from the interest of asking questions about his way of shooting in the face of the current social and political scenario of an authoritarian government that is opposed to both art and science. The conversation addressed various issues, including the future and meaning of cinema, the relationship between cinema and video art, reflections about Machado’s most recent film Os sonâmbulos [The sleepwalkers] (2018). We can describe Machado’s artistic and cinematographic production as a research about the borders between ethics and aesthetics, pervaded with resistance language and practices.
