Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this article is to present the main ideas of Florestan Fernandes and Raymundo Faoro, with respect to patrimonialism and bureaucratic state and to point out possible convergences of these ideas. As a methodological procedure, this research was based on literature and empirical data to identify the evidence of the presence of this phenomenon in the current Brazilian reality. When the data and analyzes on the Brazilian tax structure, the penal system and the expenditures with the national political “elite” are observed, signs that the patrimonialism and the bureaucratic state are still part of the Brazilian reality can be verified, even after the “modernization” happened and, that the analyzes of Florestan Fernandes and Raymundo Faoro are very valid to explain contemporary Brazil.
