Sumario:Aim: To prescribe the nutritional profile of overweight people users from a Basic Health Unit in the city of Ibate, state of São Paulo. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed, with a population of 50 subjects of both sexes, older than 18 years and IMC above 30 Kg/m2. The methodology involved anthropometric evaluation and the use of a questionnaire (personal information, health problems, eating habits and lifestyle). Results: The results showed that the most overweight subjects were women, between 18 and 30 years old with obesity in the family history. Most of participants never had any kind of obesity treatment. However, more than half of participants showed health problems. The food consumption showed that 40% does not eat fast food, 32% eat three meals per day. The consumption of salt and oil monthly exceeded the recommendation but the water intake was considered adequate. Fifty-six percent stated that they were in need of improvements in nutrition since the anthropometric measurement indicated that 48% were classified as obese grade I and the risk of development metabolic complication were diagnosed in the entire group. The sedentary lifestyle was diagnosed in 82% of the subjects. Discuss: The principal cause of overweight is the inadequate diet which is plenty of sugar and fats, and the sedentary. Conclusion: According to these results, the recommended action is to perform a campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of overweight and healthy complications for these people, so that they can develop better eating habits and a healthier lifestyle in order to improve their quality of life.
