| Resumo: | This article shows an analysis of the relationship between social, historical, cultural and discursive instances about aged individuals with the production of archaeological knowledge. The breadth of interdisciplinary theoretical interactions, especially that of the human sciences, reflects new questions and possibilities for research and interpretation of the theme of human aging in archaeology. It is a construct endowed with subjectivities and individualities, thus not having a unique, static and universal character. There is a need for interaction between tacit osteo-archaeological approaches and those of the interpretive archaeological theory of material culture, currently hegemonic, to improve the reflection on the aging body in the various populations of the past and the cultural and social inferences about them. |
