Nessas lutas, esse povo desenvolveu uma concepção de defesa da vida, liberdade e justiça. Partindo de fontes primárias da tradição judaica, em especial o Tanach e o Talmude, além de outras fontes bibliográficas, o presente artigo discute como o princípios religiosos ali presentes foram fundamentais para o desenvolvimento dos chamados direitos humanos.

These movements claimed a dignified life and denounced the injustices. The Hebrew people, who had their founding myth in the liberation of Egypt, were one of the nations that experienced and faced stories of opression and liberation. In these struggles, these people developed a concept of the defense of life, freedom and justice.
