| Resumo: | From an interlocution with the social sciences, the article presents particularities and characteristics of the configuration of the world of work in Brazil, having as reference and time frame the last four decades. In general terms, it contextualizes the scenario of deep social, political and economic crisis in the country and the ideopolitical foundations that resulted in the approval of the (Counter) Labor Reform during Michel Temer's term in 2017. Based on qualitative and historical-critical analysis of bibliographic and documentary production, problematizes the recent Brazilian conjuncture, in view of the State resizing that intensively implements neoliberal measures of austerity, fiscal adjustment and privatization, with devastating effects for the rights and social protection of the working class.
