| Resumo: | This article intends to introduce initial reflections about potato productions in Nova Friburgo’s village, in the nineteenth century and the beginning of 20th century. For such situation, it grounds itself in a bibliographic analysis and many printed documents exams over micro-analysis and scale variations. Based on these resources, it was possible to comprehend the economic importance on the tuber. Furthermore it’s consumed by the local population, it was destined to regional markets. This scenary could have made cultivators from the group – luso-brazilian – gender to get a social detach in the old swiss colony. It’s hopeful to get an understanding then of contributing from a regional analysis the agricultural gender importance, it had an essencial role on filling the inside market, although it’s not so explored for studies.
