| Sumario: | This work presents a reading of the novel City of God (1997) by Paulo Lins, in which a reality marked by poverty and violence is approached. Having as its main focus reflect on the stereotypes of culture and of representation of the black in society, the analysis is based on the existing contradictions in the construction of identities by fictional narrative, questioning the definitions of what is black because these classifications are sustained in ambiguities that can be at the same time a critique or a kind of acceptance/naturalization of prejudice and historical racism. |
