Sumario:The experience of working as a nurse in a cooperative medical hospital and the daily difficulties brought about this state. We carried out qualitative research with the objective of analyzing the perception of nurses of work in a cooperative hospital, showing the limits and possibilities given the demands of these institutions. Eight nurses chosen according to criteria of exclusion, so as to avoid experiences influenced by other institutions were interviewed. Through this analysis we found that the nurses have a difficulty in defining their competencies and have little autonomy. With fear of making mistakes, they are over careful and lack initiative, awaiting institutional orders.
