Descripción
Sumario:This paper analyses local actions regarding tourism in Soure Marine Extractive Reserve, located in Soure municipality, Marajó mesoregion, in the state of Pará. Specifically, it highlights how the local communities appropriate tools from a land-environmental policy and provide alternatives to tourism-based problems. In methodological terms, the author had made a bibliographic survey and field research; conducted interviews and participant observation in 2019 and 2020. Moreover, the author participated in the internal meets organized by local communities, and reunions in the scope of the Deliberative Council. The ongoing initiatives to strengthen community leadership in tourism at Resexmar de Soure are important and encouraging. While tourism without collaboration with local communities is clearly threatening the organization of these social groups, their continued and successful efforts to implement their own organizing strategies, which deliberately incorporate local history and culture into the process, offer a long-term alternative.
