Summary:Families of people with intellectual disabilities (ID) can experience, due to the specific characteristics of the disability and its consequences, challenging moments, imbued by doubts, uncertainties, insecurities and anxieties. Intervention programs related to family life when a person with ID possible ways of promoting development and preventing the problems for the functioning of family and individual members. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a literature review of publications related to interventions with families of people with ID in the context of Latin America, Spain and Portugal. We conducted a systematic search in the Scielo and Redalyc databases and Google Scholar search engine. Were found 37 publications, with a predominance of theoretical papers/literature review and Spanish origin. Most of the interventions was like ‘orientation’ and ‘support group’, related to parents/caregivers. It is expected greater production of intervention, family and disability, especially in Latin America.
