Resumo:Objective: To analyze evidence on patient safety in the perioperative period in the Nursing setting. Method: This is an integrative review searching Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, including articles published between 2018 and 2023, according to the PRISMA guideline. Results: Seven articles were identified, highlighting the surgical checklist as important in safety, communication, reduction of adverse events, mortality, complications, organization and development of the Systematization of Perioperative Nursing Care, bringing facilities to the nurse, generating a bond with the patient and better working conditions. It is observed that in the surgical environment the presence of nurses is essential to develop quality management and patient care. Conclusion: the nurse's role in the safety of surgical patients in the perioperative period is favored by the systematization of nursing care, surgical checklist and this reflects on the quality and management of care in the nursing setting.
