Descripción
Sumario:Brazil generates a lot of waste from lignocellulosic biofuel production chains, which can be exploited for the production of second generation biofuels such as methane. However, the use of this biomass as energy source via fermentation usually requires pre-treatment of the lignocellulosic material in order to solubilise the sugars or to extract the lignin. The pre-treatment process will be defined as a function of the characteristic of the substrate used or the subsequent use of the hydrolysate. The choice should also consider operational aspects, cost and generation toxic substances.
