Resumo:The premise that sustains the present argumentation is the inference that the journalistic elite consolidated between the dictatorial period and the years of redemocratization was constituted by means of legitimation and symbolization strategies that can be deduced from the biographical and memorialistic records of its members. In order to examine the processes of monumentalization of established trajectories and consecrated names, we scrutinize the conditions for the production of memoir books, biographies, testimonies for scientific production, records destined to class entities and institutions aimed at the preservation of memory and history dated between the second half of the last century and the first decade of the 21st century. The objective is to demonstrate through the analysis of production conditions - understood as the context of publication, authorship, origin of the initiative and adopted textual models - the potentialities of such records to prove the material, political and intellectual existence of prominent characters in the history of the Brazilian press.
