Long hours study weekends where the teacher´s training incorporated new features, were part of it not only in terms of its organization, but also in its conception. To understand the conceptions about teacher training that are built inside the Institutes has the meaning of understanding the deeper matrices from which different educational practices are based. To go further on studies about conceptions of teacher training in various forms of education systems is a necessary and essential pathway for the improvement of professional development policies in the country. Regarding this point, this article presents the results of a qualitative investigation that seeks to analyze different conceptions of teacher training in a modular system of education in the province of Salta, having as reference the case study in the Lerma Valley.Desde la segunda mitad de la década de 1990, en el marco de las transformaciones del sistema educativo emanadas de la Ley Federal de Educación, surgieron Institutos de Formación Docente con modalidades de dictado de clases en módulos intensivos, con cursada los fines de semanas, en jornadas extensas, en donde la formación docente incorporó nuevas características, no solo en cuanto a su organización, sino también, ante su concepción. Entender las concepciones que sobre formación docente se construyen al interior de los institutos formadores, es entender las matrices más profundas a partir de las cuales se fundamentan las diferentes prácticas educativas. Avanzar en los estudios sobre las concepciones de formación docente en distintas modalidades del sistema educativo, es un paso necesario y fundamental para el mejoramiento de las políticas de desarrollo profesional en el país.
