Sumario:The present dissertation was anchored in the Theory of Social Representations (MOSCOVICI, 1978) as a theoretical and methodological reference, in order to investigate the tendencies of the social representations of body in the initial formation of Physical Education teachers (undergraduate). The theoretical assumption is that the social representations about the body, instituted in the social imaginary (CASTORIADIS, 2000) of undergraduate students, will imply in their future pedagogical practice in and on it, since, recent studies of the area (DAOLIO, 2013) have been demonstrating that the pedagogical practice of teachers in action is guided by a set of representations that define and guide the professional activity. In this sense, the objective is to identify possible indications of social representations about the body instituted in the social imaginary of students of the Physical Education course to understand which are the social representations about the body that circulate in the scope of their formation. In order to reach the proposal, the model of the Dimensions of the scientific research proposed by Novikoff (2010) was adopted, as well as the test of free association of words and the projective technique of drawing as instruments of data collection. The subjects that were part of the sample were university students of undergraduate degree in Physical Education degree. Thus, the results found in the Pedagogical Project of the Course were indications of social representations of a body related to health, those present in the projections are of a body anchored in the idea of healthy and objectified in the form of moving drawings and well being and, to those emerging of the evocations indicated a body anchored in social dimensions and objectified in the ways of Sociopolitical Body and Completion Body. Then, in the face of the triangulation of results, the conclusion is that the evidence of social representations about the body are anchored in health, movement and well-being, elements that are objectified in physically strong bodies that are always in motion in search of a good be.
