Sumario:Objective: To analyze the number of nursing professionals elected to the position of mayors in municipal elections held in the geographical area formed by “Brazil” in 2020, also building their sociodemographic and sociopolitical profile. Method: Exploratory, descriptive, comparative and quantitative research. The data was requested from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Results: In the data organization and analysis process, 120 professionals were identified, 77.5% (n=93) were Nurses (ENF) and 22.5% (n=27) were Nursing Technicians and similar (TEA). The southeast region (SE) recorded the highest prevalence of ENF with 40.9% (n=38) and the northeast region (NE) the highest number of ASD with 29.6% (n=8). The state of Minas Gerais (MG) recorded the highest prevalence of NFE with 21.5% (n=20) and also of ASD with 14.8% (n=4). Final considerations: This research verified the reduced representation of nursing professionals in municipal electoral elections held in Brazil in 2020.
