Descrição
Resumo:The study aimed to analyze the reality of family farming in the context of an agricultural family in the traditional community of Santana Island in the municipality of Santana-AP, aiming to expand the information in the context of the discussion of the role of rural extension to rural communities, as well as the importance of family farming within the socioeconomic context. For this study, visits were conducted to a family of rural farmers who work with the production of fruit pulps. The research methodology was qualitative and the data was obtained through semi-structured interviews with family farmers to check their perception on the rural extension and its importance, as well as record the difficulties they faced in developing family agriculture in the countryside. The main results showed that the family in question does not have the technical assistance of agricultural extension (ATER) due to the lack of public policies by the local government and mismanagement of the current president of the farmers’ cooperative in Santana’s Isle. It was observed that the production mode is rudimentary, characterized by many difficulties ranging from cultivation to the outflow of production. On the overall it was observed that family farming is still treated in a derisive way in the state of Amapá requiring more action by the responsible agency through public policies that allow the development of family agriculture to improve the quality of life of these small farmers.
