| Sumario: | The Authors descrihe concepts and epidemiologic methodology for the control of Hospital Infections used in some Brazilian Institutional Hospitals. The careful use of antibiotics, the role of the Microblology Laboratory, and the use of germicids in the Hospitalar cleansing measures, are emphasized as important factors in hospital infection control. All factors should be closely foHowed.by the Committee for Hospital Infection Control. A three months follow-up of 881 patients was carried out in INCa, from June to August/1981. The 17,2% incidence rate of Hospital Infections is only slightly elevated when compared to General Hospitals. The sources and the etiologic agents of the infection are similar to others in the literature. The therapeutic methods have direct relation to the incidence of infection. |
