Sumario:This work is part of an alert made by a commercial aired on television and on the website doceveneno.org.br/# about the harmful effects of excess sugar in the body. The website draws attention to the support for a Bill (PL 2183/2019) that would increase taxes on soft drinks by 20%. Therefore, the website and the video constituted themselves as organizers of learning about chemical concepts and reflection on social and health issues based on the soft drink theme. Scientific articles were read in the classes of the Curricular Orientation of Studies component and doubts were clarified in dialogued classes (conversation circles) with the teacher's mediation. Investigative experiments were used to verify the amount of sugars in soft drinks in Experimental Practice classes. It was clear the interest aroused in the students from the topic addressed, as well as the learning of chemical concepts in close connection with the social issues raised by the topic.
