Descripción
Sumario:This paper aims to analyze the grammaticalization of the verb "ver" in Portuguese and Spanish, from data consulted in different digital corpora, oral and written, based on Givón (1984, 1995), Gonçalves et al. (2007), Heine et al. (1991), Lehmann (2002 [1982]), Heine and Reh (1984), and others. Considering grammaticalization not only as a process related to the diachronic change of an item or construction, but also as an elaborative-creative process motivated by cognitive-communicative aspects (GIVÓN, 1984), it was found that the perceptual verb “ver” have different functions, that can be distributed in a continuum of semantic abstraction and categorical change.
