Descripción
Sumario:In this paper, we present for the first time the translation of some excerpts of Erathostenes' Catasterisms to Brazilian Portuguese. The selected chapters describe the following constellations: Ursa Major, Scorpio, Böotes, Taurus (Hyades), Pleiades, Orion, and Canis Major (Sirius). The selection of this corpus is due to the presence of these constellations in the ancient Greek epic since they appear in the works of Homer and Hesiod. The translation tries to reproduce the synoptic and informative character of the original text, filling all the necessary gaps to understand the text in the form of notes and comments that clarify the myths, such as references, and bring relevant information related to the context.
