Biomarkers of the presence of these agents that are measurable in fish can be used to assess environmental quality in places of interest, such as in the case of fishing ponds. Thus, the main objective of the work was to evaluate, through biomarkers, the presence of toxic agents in catfish (Rhamdia quelen), common carp (Cyprinus carpio) an Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), collected from lakes of a fishing pond located in Lages, Santa Catarina. For that, 10 fish of each species were collected and then placed in thermal boxes with ice and sent to the laboratory for analysis. Samples of gills, livers and brains tissues of the fish were collected to determine the activity of catalase (CAT), glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzymes. Cat activity in the gill was similar among species, however, in the liver, was larger in catfish and common carp and smaller in tilapia. The activity of GST in the liver was smaller in common carp than in tilapia, while in the gills, was larger in carp than in the t wo other species that did not differ from each other. The activity of the AChE in the brain was similar in catfish and common carp species. No significant changes were detected in the evaluated biomarkers.
