Descripción
Sumario:This text presents an analysis of two collaborative actions directed by Fernanda Magalhães regarding to the issue of visibility of fat women: “Classificações científicas da obesidade” (1997) ("Scientific Classifications of Obesity") and “Ação 8” (Action 8) (2006). Throught these works, Magalhães and other women confront social exclusions, giving to the matter a deconstruction reading of conventions that permeate the cultural imaginary elaborated from elements of art history. Based on authors such as Lynda Nead (1992), Almazán and Clavo (2007) and Rosalyn Deutsche (2008), the text interweaves art and politics and takes into account the power of the body and joint actions in the transgression of hegemonic discourses.
