Descripción
Sumario:The recurring events of water scarcity caused by the imbalance between supply and demand, reveal the importance of understanding current consumption and prospecting future demands. In this perspective, the present work conducts a bibliometric analysis on the main characteristics of the recently published scientific collection about the forecast of urban water demand. For this, the VosViewer software was used as a graphical mapping tool and the Scopus platform as a database. The results demonstrate, mainly, the lack of studies that develop the forecast of urban water demand across the global sphere, especially for the medium and long term horizons. Therefore, it is extremely necessary to expand the bibliographic production related to the theme in order to assist water resources managers in predicting and mitigating water stresses.
