Sumario:The research aims to investigate aspets of the formation of reader and literary reading, in classes of elementar II, of a Municipal Public School in Redenção, Ceará. We analyzed the national and school documents for the teaching and learning of literature, the textbooks of the Elementary II of Portuguese Language; the teacher’s methodologies in her literature classes, and the dialogue with her students. The study is qualitative, with na exploratory purpose and a case study method. However, the effective mediation of the teacher in the classroom, by promoting contact with diversified Works, authors and literary genres, contributes satisfactorily to the formation of readers, although it is still necessary to implemente literary projects and to encourage adolescentes to read at home.
