| Sumario: | This article aims to analyze and problematize the persecution of Catholic bishops during the military dictatorship, between 1964 and 1985. Of a qualitative nature, it is a bibliographical research work based on writings and productions of researchers who studied a significant variety of historical sources. It seeks a better understanding of the complex dynamics between the Church and the State during the military dictatorship, highlighting the crucial role of Catholic bishops, considered by the dictatorial regime as subversive, but by the progressive wing of the Church and society, as agents of resistance, defense of human rights and witnesses of a kingdom of justice and peace. |
