| Sumario: | This article deals with the political representation of women in the northern mesoregions of Minas Gerais - MG and Vale do Jequitinhonha - MG, comprised of 140 municipalities. The objective is to investigate the phenomenon of inequality in political representation expressed through the gender and race/color variables. This is a quantitative work using descriptive statistics. Data collection took place on the Superior Electoral Court website—Open data portal. The data is analyzed by comparing the results of each region with data from municipal elections in Brazil. One may observe the differences between the regions and how much the scenario of underrepresentation of women in the Jequitinhonha Valley is more challenging than the context of underrepresentation of women in Brazil. |
